2 year old moments

Jaedyn is full-on terrible two's - she gets into EVERYTHING - she LOVES to color all over everything (including herself) - her favorite pasttime it to climb on the counter and get into the cupboards and to get into Mommy or Kelsi's makeup (she is totally in to lipstick!). Let's just say there is NEVER a dull moment with her around!!

"Orange" you glad it's Carson's Birthday?

For Carson's 4th birthday we decided to celebrate with his two favorite things - Orange & Cars! Everyone dressed up in orange, we ate orange food, played orange games, raced race-cars and enjoyed some yummy Lightning McQueen and 'Mater cakes! Carson had a lot of fun with his cousins and got a lot of fun presents! It was so much fun to see everyone get so involved and come dressed up!!

Happy 4th Birthday Carson!

Our little boy, isn't so little anymore! He has FINALLY turned 4! (He has been wondering when his birthday is for the past 6 months!) He is such a sweet boy (when he wants to be), he is so smart and so full of energy! We love him so much and are grateful to have him in our family!

Poor little guy

Yesterday afternoon I was mopping the kitchen floor, and when I opened our back door to take the rugs outside there was a little bird sitting on the door-step. I could tell that something was wrong with the bird - and I didn't want to disturb it so I shut the door and finished cleaning up the kitchen. Well a little while later I opened the door just to see if the bird was still there, and it was, but this time Carson was with me. He was fascinated by the bird and wanted to feed it some crackers and water. Carson did his best to get the bird to eat, but I knew that we weren't going to be able to help the bird. Sure enough, a few hours later the poor little bird passed away. So I thought since Carson was so concerned about the bird, I should have Paul dispose of the bird without a big commotion. Well after it got dark I opened the door just to check on the bird and it was gone. So I asked Paul if he had taken care of the bird, and he said "No". So I was wondering what had happened to the bird, when Carson promptly said - "I threw him". I said "You did WHAT?!?!" "Yeah Mom, I threw him". I asked him "Just WHERE did you throw him?".  "Over by the fence" Carson said. I asked him to "Show me!" So sure enough, we walked over by the fence and there was the poor life-less little bird. My sweet caring little Carson had let his little boy side take over! I can't believe he picked it up, and I definately cannot believe he threw it at the fence!! How many more "boys will be boys" moments are we going to have?

4th of July - 2010

We had a WONDERFUL 4th of July holiday weekend (it's nice to have a holiday on Sunday in Utah, you get to celebrate all weekend long!!). We started our weekend Friday night by going for a bike ride, we made a stop at the local Snowie shack to enjoy some summery goodness. It was a fun bike ride with the kids in the bike trailer.
Saturday morning we woke up and headed over to the West Jordan Parade. Mike, Ashley, Tavin and Daxton joined us! We drove the golf-cart over to the parade, and I was afraid that the police officer wasn't going to let us park on the street, but Paul was confident that West Jordan's finest wouldn't bother us - and YES, Paul was right! It was a fun parade even though we were at the end of the parade route so the kids didn't get too much candy (which was fine with me!)

After the parade we went to see Toy Story 3 at the movie theatre. Carson did really well sitting through the movie. Jaedyn had a harder time, but didn't do too bad. The movie was really cute! It makes me want to buy Toy Story 1 and 2 to add to our movie collection. Carson like Buzz Lightyear the best. Afterwards we stopped at YogurtLand and got a frozen yogurt - yummy!!!
Saturday night we made some BBQ Pork sandwiches and invited the Galieti's over to join us. We enjoyed visiting with them! When it got dark we all headed over to the West Jordan Park for a nice fireworks display!

Sunday (the actual 4th) was a nice day. We went to church - where I had to teach the R.S. Lesson - which wasn't my idea of fun, but it did go well. After church Paul wanted to go for a ride up the canyons. The little kids were both very tired and whiny, so Kelsi graciously agreed to watch them while Paul and I went for a drive. We went up one of our favorite canyons - Millcreek Canyon. Once we got up there we decided to go for a little hike. The weather was cool and the hike wasn't too hard - so it ended up being a very enjoyable time!!! We took our time walking up and back, sat on some rocks and listened to a squirrel in the tree above us. We then stopped and sat on a log and enjoyed the rustling of the leaves and the babbling of the creek. It was a very pleasant hike! Once we got home we made some fried chicken, mashed potatoes and corn on the cob - it was a pretty yummy dinner if I do say so myself. I also got ambitous and tried making a Strawberry Tart, which also turned out pretty good. Later in the evening we decided to drive the golf cart around the neighborhood and saw our neighbors - the Snyder's - setting out their fireworks, so we asked them if we could crash their party. They were kind enough to let us watch their fireworks. Our sweet neighbor lady Kale even gave the kids glow-sticks. They were really sweet and we had a lot of fun with them. We were tired by the end of the day, but it was relaxing.

Monday the 5th Paul had the day off work, so we decided to go up to "This is the Place Heritage Park". It was also a cool day, which made the whole experience nicer. They have changed quite a few things at the Park, and they have also added a few new things - like a boat - it was a nice afternoon. We enjoyed some ice-cream and in the Huntsman Hotel and they had a candy cannon down main street. Carson's favorite part was washing the clothes on a washboard and hanging them out on the clothes line.

Monday night our neighborhood had a big get together. They had water-balloons, glow-sticks, swimming pools & slip-n-slide, BBQ's, sides & desserts, and a great fireworks display. There were a lot of people there and we got to visit with a lot of them. The kids had so much fun getting wet and playing with all the kids. It was really nice of the Moffat's to plan and organize the whole event - Thanks Richard and Heather!!

We had such a great time this past weekend! We got to spend time with family & friends, enjoy some yummy food, stay up late, enjoy being outside, remember and give thanks for our freedoms, wear some Red, White & Blue and most of all show how proud we are to be American!!

Storms of Life

There was a crazy summer storm just recently with 3 rainbows in the sky at once! It was a great reminder to me that "if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up the rain". Life throws each of us challenges and trials, but if we endure them well, we will be rewarded and blessed. I am trying to learn to see each challenge as an opportunity to learn and grow and hopefully will be able to recognize the strength I will gain as the result of my actions in dealing with my trials.

"May God give you…For every storm a rainbow, for every tear a smile, for every care a promise and a blessing in each trial. For every problem life sends, a faithful friend to share, for every sigh a sweet song and an answer for each prayer”  ~ Irish Blessing ~

We have a teenager at our house!

Our sweet Kelsi turned 13 this year! I cannot believe how fast time has gone by. She is such a wonderful girl and we are HOPING that she will continue to be a sweet teenager! :)

We Love you KELSI!!

Kelsi wanted to have a birthday party with all her friends. We had a luncheon and then went over to Ashley's clubhouse to go swimming. As is tradition for Kelsi, her birthday was cold and rainy, but the girls didn't let that stop them. They swam until they couldn't stand the cold anymore, then we went in to the movie theatre and watched Alice in Wonderland - the new one with Johnny Depp. Then on Sunday we had a nice dinner with our family. It was a fun milestone birthday for her!

Summer is in full swing!

Summer time always brings a lot of birthday's, parties and fun for our family! Here are some of the highlights!

Tanner turned 3 in May and celebrated his birthday "Handy Manny" style - complete with a building project and all!! I think the adults did most of the assembly work, but the kids had fun painting their birdhouses!

Morgan turned 5 this year! What a big girl - she will be going to Kindergarten in the fall. We had a lot of fun at her "Under the Sea" themed birthday party. Ariel sang songs, played games and entertained the kiddos. We got some gold fish to take home as our party gift (at least 2 of the 3 fish we got lived!) The kids also really enjoyed splashing like fish in the swimming pool!

Ashley and I took the kids to the Museum of Natural History - the kids are still a bit young to really enjoy it, but it is always fun to spend time with cousins! The kids really liked all the bugs they had on display.

We have already had a lot of fun this summer....and it's just gettin' started!
