Yuma Arizona 2011

This year we were able to make the trip down to Yuma Arizona to visit with Mary &Fred. We left the day after Christmas and spent an entire week in the warm 70+ degree weather, being shown such a fun time!
We got to spend time with Paul's Uncle Earl & Aunt Kathy, his cousin Deanna and her husband Scott and Mary & Fred's friends Bob & Carol.

Some of our favorite things in Yuma are:

Shopping in Mexico - where Carson was determined to find a Harmonica. (Which we didn't find until later at one of the Swapmeets). Jaedyn was such a cute shopper in Mexico - she was looking through all the dresses, but got really good at shaking her head "no" to all the vendors trying to sell her stuff. We also got loaded up on Antibiotics, IB 800's, and yummy Vanilla!

Eating in Mexico - We enjoyed Nacho's and virgin drinks in the Beer Garden, and then enjoyed a yummy authentic Mexican dinner at our favorite resturaunt The Pueblo.

Shopping at the Swapmeets (there were three swapmeets that we went to)- Fun to look!

Eating dinner at Lutes Casino and playing the Scratchy Bingo Lottery Cards! The kids also got quarters from Grandma to play the arcade games. I won $2.00 on a card (so I was only down $8.00 at that point!)

Visiting Martinez Lake - This is something new we did this year. It is a beautiful lake and there is a fun Visitor's center to see. Scott & Deanna showed us a great time at the lake. The kids loved playing in the sand and jumping the waves. Carson also made us all nervous when he was throwing rocks off a cliff. This was probably my favorite thing we did!

Eating Date Shakes - The date shakes are so amazing! We also got to see a really cool bridge next to where we got our shakes from. The bridge is the trial run to the Golden Gate Bridge and it is called "The Bridge to Nowhere". Paul also showed me some fun things to do with the camera. This was really fun, and the kids enjoyed getting to climb the rocks.

Buying fresh fruit from the fruit stand - We always enjoy getting fresh citrus while we are down in Yuma - we also got some yummy pickled items at the stand we visited.

Picking fresh citrus from the tree's in Villa Alameda - Paul's favorite thing to do is to go outside of Mary & Fred's park model and pick a fresh orange or tangelo from the tree to eat each day. This year was no exception!

Swimming in the Pool at the Hotel - This is something the kids were really looking forward to. They took advantage of swimming every chance they could! They did so good with their life jackets, they were swimming all over the pool all by themselves! A couple of the nights, they even made some new friends.

The kids also thought it was cool just to be in the hotel!

Enjoying New Year's Eve with Grandma & Grandpa - we got to spend New Year's Eve eating a yummy BBQ dinner, visiting with Mary & Fred and Bob & Carol, and bringing in the new year with horns, hats and lei's. What a great way to celebrate!!

We had such an incredible time in Yuma - it was so nice to get away and to have a vacation and to get to hang out with Grandma & Grandpa Evans. Even though Kelsi didn't come with us (the teenager in her has decided it is not cool to hang with the fam any more) we enjoyed spending time together and getting to relax a bit! We are so grateful for the opportunity to visit with Mary & Fred and are so thankful for all they did for us and the kids while we were there!! THANK YOU!
